I am an English guide in charge of
Kuno-zan Toshogu Shrine.

My proposal

55 yrs old, Male, High School English teacher (32 years career) , assistant for exchange students from and to abroad. I have been guiding more than 10 years. Groups vary from individuals to more than 30 people. My personal interests are traveling abroad, 30 U.S cities including Hawaii and Guam Island, Mexico (10 cities), Spain (10 cities), Italy (10 cities), Great Britain (20 cities), Ireland (2 cities), France (Paris), Australia (Sydney and Perth :10 times), Thailand (3 cities) and Taiwan (Taipei). My sales point is to be guided abroad as well as guide in Japan. I like watching sports, reading, doing physical exercises and raising pets (a land turtle, parrots, a rabbit and tropical fresh water fish).

My personal information I would like to tell you

I have a strong sense of resonsibility and accuracy on time. I always try to make a plan with care not too busy or not to be for the next destination. I never forget the word “cost effifiency” to serve every guest and to try to give extra value more than what I earn from guests. As I am also a traveler, I try hard to pay attention to every guest so that they can spend their time meaningfully in the limited time. I endeavor to be fully prepared for all the guests’ requests.

Below is the sightseeing spot I provide the guiding service.

Sightseeing spot

In Kuno-zan To-sho-gu shrine (National Treasure), the first governor of Japan, Ieyasu Tokugawa, who unified Japan for the first time, is enshrined here by the order before his death. Although he was born in city of Okazaki, Aichi prefecture, he spent here in Shizuoka (called Sumpu at that time) as a custody of Imagawa family (a local strong feudal lord). His title was hostage but he was raised with special care in order to be the successor of his family (Matusdaira) later. He was actually treated as one of the sons of Imagawa family. So, he leanred martial arts or training to be a warrior and was endowed with knowledge and wisdom to govern his area. Those experiences and memories made Shizuoka scond home for him. After his retirement as Shogun (governor of Edo fuedal government), he is said to come back here to spend seemingly with leisure but actually to wach out for unstable western states then as well as long for his hometown Okazaki. That is why his mousoleum faces west.

The period he stayed in Shizuoka (Sunpu) is called “O-gosho-jidai”, which means magnate period and the population here was 100,000,while the largest one in the world then, Edo (Tokyo) was 1,000,000 and the second largest city Kyoto was 300,000. You can imagine how big Shizoka (Sumpu) was and his governing influence and political power in Japan at that time.
