Tokyo_Toden Arakawa Line

Welcome to my page

I am an English guide

in charge of Toden Arakawa Line.

Below is the sightseeing spot I provide the guiding service.

Tokyo Metropolitan streetcar ride and stopover on several sites

Tokyo Metropolitan streetcar is only one streetcar line named Arakawa line which connects Minowa and Waseda. The line is 12 km and to take one hour between the two terminals. Just riding the car is fun but you can enjoy seeing various spots along the line by buying one day free ticket. There is a retro shopping street in Minowa. After a walk from Arakawa Natural Park to Machiya, you are satisfied to eat Monjya, a baked mixture of wheat flour, water and various kinds of ingredients, and Takoyoki, a grilled round food filled with chopped octopus. There is a small old-established amusement park named Arakawa Yuenchi. In the train shed, you see old-type cars and remember the past age. In the Oji district, tourist spots from the Edo period (1603-1867), Asukayama Park and Otonashi Shinsui Park are seen. There are three museums in Asukayama Park. From Koshinzuka, a shopping street called Harajuku for the female elderly stretches about 800 meters. The street has been developed as a temple town and is lined with various kinds of 200 stores such as sweets, clothing, restaurants and so on. When getting off at Zoshigaya and going around, you can see a large public cemetery named Zoshigaya Reien and a small traditional temple named Kishi Bojin surrounded by commoners’ residential area. From Kishi Bojin, the other terminal, Waseda is close. In the district, besides Waseda University, there are many places to see: Higo Hosokawa Garden, Chinzan-so, Tokyo Cathedral Church and so on. In the campus of Waseda University, there is a unique museum which displays collection of materials about all genres of theatrical arts such as Kabuki, Noh, Kyogen, Bunraku, Shakespeare plays, Takarazuka revue and so on. After meeting at your hotel, the tour starts. Basically, we are breaking up somewhere along the line. If you have any request, I will flexibly adjust to them.

My personal information

I am a 60-year-old English speaking national licensed tour guide. I have welcomed and accompanied many guests from overseas for two years. I was born and grew up in Tokyo, graduated from a university in Tokyo and worked for a big trading company in Tokyo for 35 years, so I am a native of Tokyo or Tokyoite. The charms in sightseeing places in Tokyo are that one is co-existence of tradition and modernity and the other is its diversity. Even in the central part, there are a lot of green park rich in nature. You can enjoy activities in both the sea and the mountains. Tokyo has become more sophisticated in the various aspects such as streets, buildings, information services, security and so on while preserving tradition and identity towards the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. I always conduct tours to make the guests enjoyable not only by accompanying them for sightseeing but also by talking about the background and episode of the site. I hope the guests from all over the world will enjoy tours accompanied by me. I will make an effort to improve knowledge and skills to entertain guests. I think it is important to be kind and friendly. I want to help you have good memories in tours. Why don’t you join me?
