I am an English guide in charge of
Nihon Daira Plateau, Toshogu Shrine, Ropeway ride & Ishigaki ichigo.
One hour shinkansen ride to the west is Shizuoka Station. From Shizuoka Station one hour bus ride will bring you to a plateau called Nihon Daira. The panoramic view of Mt. Fuji is magnificent from here. After the buffet lunch at the hotel, 10minute ropeway ride will bring you to the top of Mt. Kuno. Here lie a tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu and other shrine buildings. The shrine buildings are decorated with colorfully painted wooden carvings. Descending from the mountain via stone steps, you will reach the coastal line of the Suruga Bay. Here lots of greenhouses growing strawberries utilizing the stone walls stand. You can enjoy huge and sweet strawberry picking in one of them in spring time.
|My personal information I would like to tell you|
Born in 1952 Female English teacher / Guide: National Guide Certificate holder, STEPtest 1Grade
I’ve been working as an English teacher all my life. After passing 60, I challenged to become a certified guide. In my free time I enjoy traveling not only around Japan but also around the world always with the help of guides. Just a small stone shines with the explanation given by guides. They really help travelers understand a lot about the place and culture. I really wish to entertain tourists with easy to understand explanations and make their trips most memorable and pleasant just like the guides I have met and have been helped by.
|Below is the sightseeing spot I provide the guiding service.|
Shizuoka Station—bus ride 50minutes—Nihon Daira Plateau-Panoramic view of Mt. Fuji-buffet lunch at Nihon Daira Hotel—Ropeway ride 10minutes over Valley of Hell viewing the Suruga Bay in the distance—Mr. Kuno Toshogu Shrine (national treasure)—stone steps of 1159 descending 20minutes—strawberry picking 30minutes—bus ride 50minutes—Shizuoka Station
Nihon Daira Plateau—Mt. Udo is 307meters high and at its top there is a flat open space called Nihon Daira Plateau. This is the best spot to see the panoramic view of Mt.Fuji.
Ropeway ride—The ropeway is 1065meters long and connects between the Nihon Daira Plateau and Toshogu Shrine. On sunny days you can see Suruga Bay and Izu Peninsula in the distance. Beneath is Hell Valley with lots of greeneries.
Toshogu Shrine—On top of Mt. Kuno (216meters) stands Toshogu Shrine. The main building is designated as a national treasure. The building is decorated with beautifully carved and colored wooden sculptures. The Toshogu Shrine enshrines Tokugawa Ieyasu who reigned Japan 400 years ago and established Tokugawa Shogunate which lasted for almost 250 peaceful years. There are his tomb, other shrine buildings and a museum. The colorful carvings can be a good match with Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
Ishigaki ichigo (Stone wall strawberries)—Strawberries grown in greenhouses utilizing stone walls taste extra sweet and huge in size. From January to May you can enjoy picking and eating strawberries as much as you want.
