Welcome to my page

I am an English & Portugues guide

in charge of all major tourist spots in Hida_Takayama.

My proposal

I am a national-licensed English and Portugues speaking guide in Gifu Prefecture. Although Gifu is not yet a popular tourist destination compared to Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara, it is in Central Japan and there are actually so many tourist attractions within JR train accesibility.

If you would like to visit and experience something different from just visiting shrines and temples, please prolong your stay in Japan and walk in Gifu and other cities in Central Japan. Here, you can walk on old streets, talk with the locals, see and live the real Japan, take a deep breath in the primeval green forest, touch splashing blue waterfalls, walk under red and yellow autumn leaves, swim in tranparent river water, go trekking or skiing in the white snow, and feel the heartbeat of the earth by taking a bath in hot springs.

Just as a travel lover like you, I will walk and have fun with you while giving you as much information and trevia as I can provide. I will accompany you not only in the Central Japan area, but also wherever you go in Japan. I am a green tea lover as well as mountain and waterfall trekker, which means I am good at dealing with both indoor and outdoor aspects of Japanese culture.

I am looking forward to spending time with you and helping you make unforgettable memories in Japan.

My personal information I would like to tell you

Both English and Portugues guide is available. As a person who has lived other countries and who loves traveling, I always keep in mind what international travelers need and want. Let me help you make unforgettable memories in Japan.

Below is the sightseeing spot I provide the guiding service.

Sightseeing spot

320px-Hida_Takayama_folk_villageHida-Takayama is accesible by JR train. It is about 3 hours from Nagoya by the limited express train called “Wide View Hida.” The city is located at the west foot of the Northern Japanese Alps, at an altitude of about 570m/1870ft. The main sightseeing area, the old town is only about 10 mitutes on foot from JR Takayama Station and there you can enjoy walking and shopping along the old streets.

There are many shops specialized in wood and lacquer crafts which are traditionally manufactured in this area, as well as traditional Japanese goodies such as sake, miso and shoyu which are commonly said to require pure water and cold weather to produce. It’s not only limited to shopping, but you can also enjoy visiting castle ruins from the late 16th centry, too. The ruins remain at the top of a small mountain, thus you will also be able to enjoy a half-day hiking, looking down the whole view of the city of Takayama while imagining the thoughts of fuedal lords in the past. For those who are interested in collecting stamps from shrines and temples, Higashiyama-teramachi area is perfect. 岐阜旅の想ひ出 2016.2.11-13_8118
In Takayama, if you want to sit down and take a little break, you can find an old but stylish cafe at every corner. Or if you are too busy hanging around but you want to eat something quickly, you can find many food stands where you can order some take-out Hida-beef related fast food at a reasonable price.
If you are a festival lover, please visit Takayama on April 14-15 or October 9-10 on which dates Takayama Festival is held. You will see floats decorated with sophisticated automata going down the streets. There are other outskirts for excursion to spend additional days, too. I guarantee you that you will never get bored here.

This is the comment I received after guiding Tsumago amd Magome in Central Japan. —> “Wonderful experience! The old streets definitely worth visiting, only that the transportation might be a bit complicated, but our tour guide Reiko san was very professional. She told us a lot about the history and culture of this area, which makes the trip even better and more fruitful! Personally I really recommend this tour for people who want to take a look at other parts of Japan not yet to be discovered!”

Also, I always receive comments when I guide waterfall trekking in Hida-Osaka that guests would definitely introduce the tour to their friends.
