|Welcome to my page
I am an English guide
in charge of Fukuoka.
|Below is the sightseeing spot I provide the guiding service.|
“Kushida Shrine” is the grand tutelary shrine of Hakata widely known as “Okushidasan” by the local people. This shrine is the symbol of the city of Hakata, and also the site of the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival. Tｈis festival, held from July 1st through 15th annually, boasts a tradition of over 770 years, and will always be mentioned when speaking of Hakata. It is not an exaggeration to say that this festival calls for the beginning of summer in Hakata.
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
This shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, a god of learning, and is known for bringing luck to those asking to pass an examination or receive good luck in grades, and it is a national important cultural property. It is also popular with international visitors. Within the Shrine precincts, there are many plum trees, camphor trees and irises, which provide natural beauty in every season of the year.
Yanagawa Canal Cruises Tour
It takes about 46 minutes from Tenjin to Yanagawa.
Cruises on donko, poled boats, masterfully navigated by boatmen armed with single bamboo poles, provide a popular means of sightseeing around the canals of Yanagawa. These petite crafts make their way along waterways crisscrossing the town and passing through the old castle district as travelers bask in the rich and poetic ambience of the laid back flow of time.
|My personal information|
I was born and raised in Fukuoka and I’ve lived here all my life. I worked for a local bank for about 35 years, where I was mainly involved in export, import and foreign exchange, etc. Afterwards I joined a university where I teached International Economics. Now that I’ve retired from a university, I like to spend leisure time on growing vegetables in my garden and interacting with people from overseas. Both the people and food are jaunty and unpretentious. Please be sure to visit Fukuoka.
